The Philippine National Police (PNP)
announced Cyberpornography as the country's number one crime today, based on
the data collected by the authorities.
Malacanang affirmed its quick response to
this with a promise of cutting down the crime rate regarding cybersex
especially those that involve children.
According to Presedential Spokesperson Edwin
Lacierda, more campaigns against cyberpornography will be carried out, as well
as ambush acts on local protectors of the child cybersex industry.
He added that the PNP also had their eyes on
the child cybersex industry right now, and in charge of disseminating
information campaigns to eventually break the crime, is Justice Secretary Leila
de Lima as was assigned by the Malacanang.
Other than child abuse, de Lima said in an
interview, that she also targets to campaign against other forms of human
trafficking and labor trafficking, as the current head of the Inter- Agency
Council Against Trafficking (lacat).
The said crime is under the anticybercrime
law passed by the Congress on September 2012 which aims to stop cybercrimes
which include fraud, identity theft, spamming and child pornography.
But the freeze of the law, limits
the power of the Department of Justice to fight against cybercrimes, including
the cyberpornography.
